Coach Tasks RSG Over 19th NSF
Expectations are high
for the second camping of Rivers athletes for the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross River State later this year.
An Assistant Coach with Weightlifting Association, Mike Oyekachi, who dropped this hint in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt, said that the weight lifters in the state were expecting the kick-off of second phase of camping to further fortify athletes preparations for the 19th NSF.
He also expressed worry over a situation where athletes from their homes for training in order to keep fit and enhance their performance ahead of the National Sports Fiesta.
He however, said that the team is working hard to surpass the number of medal won at the last National Sports festival hosted by Lagos State, tagged Eko 2013″.
“The athletes are doing their best and we are hoping to win laurels especially gold medal an the 19th NSF, we are doing our part as a team, all that is left now is for the state government to do their part to further motivate the team”, he said.
The assistant Coach disclosed that the team is expecting invitations to participate in a weight lifting competition at the national level, adding that the invitation is yet to be received.
“The body is waiting for the invitation before proper arrangements would begin because, we do not know the dimension it would take that is why we are to receive invitation before we can act”, he said.
