Centenary City, Largest Private City – Town Planner
A town and regional
planner, David Eme, has described the Proposed- Abuja Centenary City as the second largest “private city” development in history, after Songodo.
Mr Eme stated this in an interaction with The Tide in Port Harcourt last Saturday, stressing that in urban and regional development planning, such city is a city that attracts investments in human capital, with efficient transport system among others.
He said that the city would promote leisure, tourism, as well as provides a certain level of residential accommodation with high-rise apartments, single family houses and semi detached houses.
Other features of the city he said are exquisite office towers, exotic hotels, magnificent shopping malls, imposing event centre, cozy theatres as well as cinemas.
According to him, the masterplan for the Abuja Centenary City is an embodiment of the features of modernise city, which has been designed by a reputable world class design team with emphasis on modernity and Nigeria’s distinctive cultural heritage.
He stated that notable serene cities of the world are Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Monaco, France, Shenzhen, China, Songodo, South Korea, U.S, Montreal, Canada, among others.
Eme noted that the city which is located on 1,300 acres along Airport Road, is a private –sector driven city with Eagle Hills of the United Arab Emirates (a construction consortium) as lead investor.
“It is important that the outcome will be a modern city where natural beauty and architectural ingenuity combines to produce a conducive environment”, he stated.
