A Port Harcourt-
based businessman, Mr. Cyprian Wama, has remarked that the robbery attack on the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The Tide was a painful reminder of the state of insecurity in the entire Nigerian nation state.
Mr. Wama, who stated this while chatting with newsmen in Port Harcourt Monday, described the Sunday night attack on the corporation as pathetic.
He said over the years, The Tide had remained the voice of the Niger Delta minority especially that of the Rivers people and expressed surprise that robbers could attack a corporation which was not noted for its financial muscle.
Mr. Wama urged the corporation to be vigilant to stem further attack on the corporation.
The businessman said the robbery attack on R.S.N.C had proved the wantonness of hoodlums and called on people of Rivers State to be security conscious in order not to relapse to the aweful days of militancy when people could no longer move about freely in the state.
He said that there ought to be a concerted effort to check the worsening state of in- security in the country as the nation would conduct her general elections in 2015.
Mr. Wama urged Rivers people to shun violence in order to sustain the giant development strides made by the Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s administration.
