2014 Agric Show Opens October 13
The National Agricul
tural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN) said last Monday that the 2014 National Agricultural Show, would hold in Tudun Wada, Nasarawa State, from Oct.13 to Oct. 16.
A statement issued by the National Coordinator of the foundation in Abuja, Dr Samuel Negedu, said that the 2014 show, the eighth in the series, would hold back-to-back with the World Food Day celebrations scheduled for October 16.
It said that the show would hold at the show ground, Km 28, Abuja-Keffi Road, Tudun Wada, Nasarawa State, with the usual seminar holding Oct. 13 while the official opening ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 14.
The show would end with an award ceremony, where the best exhibitors would be honoured, the statement said.
Reports say that the show was established following discussions between the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and the Nasarawa State Government, based on experiences gained at the UK Royal Agricultural Show held in Coventry in 2006.
The aim of the show is to showcase Nigeria’s abundant agricultural potential, resources and products and to consolidate past achievements.
It also serves as a platform for the development of the agriculture sector.
The show is an annual event organised in association with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, organisers of the World Food Day celebration.
It is intended to create a synergy between the two events, with a view to significantly raising awareness on the need for agricultural sustainability in Nigeria.
