Voter Cards: Enugu Records Impressive Turnout
Collection of Per
manent voter cards in Enugu recorded a large turnout as the exercise entered the second day.
During the exercise at different polling stations in Enugu-South local government area, reports said that security agents were on hand to forestall any breach of the peace.
At Uwani Primary School Polling Station, officials arrived as early as 8.30 a.m. for the exercise, with those whose names and pictures were on the list collecting their cards.
An official, who did not want his name mentioned because he was not authorised to speak, said the exercise had been hitch-free.
“For those who did not see their names on the pasted list, they should go and file a complaint at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office,’’ he said.
One of the voters who collected his card, Mr Isaac Ibe, said the exercise was orderly, adding that people were instructed by the officials on how to find their names easily.
At Achara Layout Primary School Polling Station, an official, Mr Francis Okafor, told newsmen that people were turning out to collect their cards, adding that the exercise was peaceful.
A large number of people were sighted at Igbariam Primary School Polling Station checking for their names on the list pasted by officials.
A voter, Mrs Uchechukwu Ogbuka, who did not see her name on the list, said she was asked to come back on May 28 to register for a new card as she was registered before 2011.
