A United States-based Ni
gerian journalist and President of News time International Company, Tony Oyatedor has urged Nigerians especially politicians to embrace peace and shun politics with bitterness.
Oyatedor said it is only when peace is enthroned in the land that security of lives and property can be guaranteed.
The US-based Nigerian journalist who was guest speaker at the just-concluded 2014 Synod of the Diocese of Niger Delta North held at St Barnabas Anglican Church, Elekahia, noted that “religion must not be used to wage war for whatsoever reason, but must be used to wage peace.”
According to him, “those who invest in weapons get war and destruction, while those who invest in the word, get peace and security.”
While insisting that criticism and blame game would not add value to the nation’s predicament, Oyatedor who is also an author and motivational speaker, said “Nigerians must become useful and helpful to one another” especially in time of crisis.
“Nothing good is accomplished when we attack one another with bombs, guns and angry words,” he said.
Oyatedor specifically told members of the Boko Haram sect that they should shift their attitude of persecution and killings to embrace tolerance and peace.
He, however charged the political leaders in the country to cater for the needs of people, pointing out that “unless we take care of the people and the society we live in, there will not be any person or society left to govern or support the private sector business.”
