Tennis Federation Changes Referees To Improve Skills
The Nigeria Table Tennis
Federation (NTTF) has urged national referees to take advantage of the forthcoming International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) courses to improve their officiating abilities.
The Secretary of the NTTF, Chinedu Ezealah-Ogundare, made the call in an interview with the newsmen in Lagos.
Ezealah-Ogundare said that the three ITTF courses would hold at the Knock-Up Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, between June 18 and 22.
She listed the courses as Tournament Organisation Course (TOC), Basic Referees Course (BRC) and Advanced Umpires Training (AUT), adding that resource persons would come from Malaysia.
“These programmes are specifically aimed at upgrading and preparing referees and umpires on latest officiating requirements originated by the ITTF, the official ruling body of ping-pong game.
“We are aware of the financial involvement of all the national referees travelling abroad to participate in these important courses, being the reasons we are bringing it to their door step.
“The benefits are numerous, the successful ones will be upgraded and their officiating skills will be of international standard and they will be at par with their foreign counterparts,’’ she said.
