Six In Court For Alleged Breach Of Peace
The Police in Ado-
Ekiti last Thursday arraigned six men before an Ado-Ekiti chief magistrates’ court for allegedly causing breach of the peace.
The police prosecutor, Mr Sunday Onwuchekwa, gave the names of the accused as Tosin Bankole, John Aduloju, Tayo Aduloju, Olu Olalekan, Olumide Aduloju and Kole Adebayo.
He said that the accused persons committed the offence on May 7, at about 2:00 p.m. at Idemo Street, Ado-Ekiti.
Onwuchekwa alleged that the accused on the said date unlawfully conducted themselves to cause breach of peace through burning of tyres and illegal assembly at No 17 Idemo Street.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 249 and 517 of the Criminal Code, cap C 16,Vol.1 of Ekiti State, 2012.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty while their counsel, Mr Akinjide Otegbola, prayed the court to admit his clients to bail.
He said they (clients) would not jump bail.
However, the police prosecutor opposed the bail application, saying that the police had not finished with their investigations.
He said if the accused were granted bail they would jeopardise police investigations.
Chief Magistrate Idowu Ayenimo remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the matter.
