RSUST Names Nine Professors, 15 Readers

The Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt, has elevated nine of its staff to the professorial cadre and 15 others to the rank of Reader (Associate professor).
In a Press Release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Desmond Nwosu and made available to The Tide, the promotion was the outcome of the meetings of the Appointment and Promotions Committee (Academic) Part 11 of the University held in May, 2014.
Describing the promotion exercise as a step in the right direction, the statement revealed that the development has been applauded by members of the University community.
It said “some have described it as part of the transformation that is ongoing in the university, indicating that most staff of the university are assiduously working towards achieving excellence in their areas of endeavour.
The nine professors and their areas of specialization include, Confidence K. Wachukwu, Applied Microbiology, Friday B. Sigalo, Applied Physics, Isreal Cookey Chigozie, Theoretical Physics, Hudson Nkalo Ukoima, Forest Pathology, and George N. Emeh, Agricutlrual Extension.
Others are Gabriel Ujagwung U., Fisheries Hydro-biology, Horsefall  D. Mepha, Food processing and Qaulity Evaluation, Jane Igbibo Alamina, Science Education, and Erema Ransome Daka, Marine Toxicology.
Those promoted to the rank of Reader are: Mrs Eme Effionanwan Orlu, Reproductile Physcology, Isaac Didi Essi, Econometrics, Godfrey Chukwu Akani, Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation, Obire Omokaro (Mrs), Envrionmental Microbiology and Opakirite Blessing Green, Plant taxonomy.
Others are Ibiba Reuben Jack, Organic Chemistry, Kiabel B. David, Accountancy, Kakulu, Iyenemi (Mrs), Land Management and Evaluation, Mrs Owei, Opuenebo Binya, Urban and Regional Planning, Ademiluyi, F. Taiwo (Mrs), Unit Operations, Chemical Engineering.
The rest are Okoroma, Nnamdi Sunny, Educational Management and Planning, Vipene, Joseph Bilaalo, Physical and Health Education Sports Psychology), Deekae, Suamu Nanee, Fisheries Management, Isife, Benjamin Ifeanyichukwu, Agricultural Administration and Ekeke, Benjamin Azubuike, Forestry – Silviculture.
The registrar, Mrs Daba Constance Odimabo, on behalf of the institution, congratulated the staff for their well-deserved promotion, and urged them to press forward in ensuring excellence in their various fields of specialization in order to ensure steady growth of the institution in the comity of universities.
