Obio/Akpor Youth Mobilise For APC
Some youth and stake
holders in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have thrown their weight behind the Governor Chibuike Amaechi-led administration in the sate, and vowed to mobilize total support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.
The youth and stakeholders made the declaration during the inauguration of a youth-based political pressure group, the Patriotic Youth Leadership Network (PYCN) at the headquarters of Obio/Akpor L.G.A at Rumuodomanya.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of the youth and APC supporters, National Coordinator of the body, Comrade Emmanuel Orgwu said the vision of the body was to mobilize the youth towards enterprise development and promotion of good governance in the State.
He said that boredom makes youths vulnerable the manipulation of greedy politicians who use them as things during elections, and called on youths to resist such tendencies, vote out bad leadership and reclaim their leadership position as the cutting edge of change.
Comrade Orgiou also decried the Federal Government’s Youth empowerment policy, describing it as cosmetic and unrealistic as over 75% of the youths in the country were jobless.
In his remarks, the Director of contact and mobilization of the body, Engr Nnamdi Ohuru said the network was in support of Governor Amaechi because of the standard he has set for good leadership in Rivers State.
He added that Governor Amaechi’s Youth empowerment programme in Rivers State has paid off, as may youths have benefited from Local and overseas scholarships, including other skills acquisition programmes.
He cautioned the youths against atiti- vices, such as cultism, bribery and corruption, and kidnapping.
The chairman of the occasion, Sir Nelson Wali, an APC Stalwart in Obio/Akpor L.G.A, commended the forum over their forth rightness and vision to promoting good governance in resist being as pains in the game of politics, and vote out bad leaders.
