Non-Indigenes in Rivers
State last Wednesday vowed to ensure the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections in the state.
Speaking through their spokesman, Elder Uchenna Okuku, at the inauguration of the state non-indigenes chapter of APC in Port Harcourt, he said God’s time has come to use the party as a vessel for change in the state ad Nigeria and general.
“We decided to back APC in Rivers State, because we have seen the hand of God using APC as a vessel to make a change for better in the state.
“Some of us were born and we grew up in this state; we have witnessed series of PDP’s atrocities and undemocratic legacies by PDP since 1999, we believe that Rt. Hon. Amaechi was sent by God to leverage the suffering of the people of Rivers State and the autocratic and tyranic rule of PDP in the state and Nigeria as whole.” Elder Okuku said.
He commended the state Governor, Amaechi for his inclusive governance and transparent government since 2007.
According to him, Amechi’s administration is the first to appoint non-indigenes to serve as members of the state cabinet and other agencies of the government.
Okuku also noted that, Amaechi’s administration gave equal opportunities to both indigenes and non-indigenes for free medical, free education, employment-opportunities, among others in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Mr Chukwuma Chinye tasked the non-indigenes in APC to be courageous and loyal to the party, saying that the party was the only vehicle that can deliver good democratic dividends and bring an end to insecurity in the country .
He also commended Governor Amaechi for his courageous stance to ensure there are changes and true democracy in the state, devoid of tribal sentiments.
