NNPP Scores Nigeria’s Democracy, Economy High

The National Chairman of
the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Boniface Aniebonam says the state of the country’s democracy and the national economy is very healthy despite the security challenges.
Dr Aniebonam who made the remark in a chat with The Tide in Lagos, while speaking on the country’s May 29 democracy day, expressed happiness that the democracy in Nigeria is making progress.  He noted that for a country to move forward, her citizens must be prepared to make sacrifices, but regretted unguarded comments by some Nigerians on the future of the nation.
He said, “with the recent rebasing of the economy, Nigeria is the leading economy in Africa”, but urged stakeholders in the Nigeria project to take advantage of the economic growth of the country to improve the lots of the citizenry.
“That means we need to create job opportunities for our youth, create enabling environment and structures, empower the private sector to create jobs”, Aniebonam added.
On the state of the abducted Chibok school girls, which is receiving knocks in several quarters, the NNPP boss said such comments were uncalled for, as he said government was making frantic efforts to secure the release of the school girls.
Aniebonam cautioned against unguarded comments on the state of the nation, adding that but for government’s efforts, Boko Haram would have overrun the whole country.
According to him, such unguarded statement on the president were unnecessary distractions adding that what the presidency needed was a collective efforts to tackle Boko Haram insurgency.
He said no responsive leader of a country would wish his people  what Nigeria is currently experiencing  in the north.
