NNL: City Targets Promotion
The Team Manager,
City of David FC of Lagos, Victor Akinmoyo, has said that the team was still optimistic of gaining promotion to the professional league.
The club is currently in the 19th position in the Nigeria National League (NNL), with 21 points after 17 matches.
Akinmoyo told newsmen that the players were still hopeful of doing well in their remaining 13 matches.
“We are doing fine and the boys are still hopeful of picking the promotion ticket at the end of the season.
“We are strongly focused on achieving our goal, although I know that our two early home draws at the beginning of the season really affected us.
“However, I know we have what it takes to get promoted to the professional league,” he said.
Akinmowo said that the quality of play in the NNL was high.
“We have talents that abound in the league, especially on the Division B table, and you notice slight point differences among the clubs.
“Every club is not letting go and keeps watch on the other club.
“The clubs’ standing on the table shows the quality of play and that of coaching because each week you notice changes on the table,” Akinmoyo said.
The two top teams in Division A and Division B will gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.
