KFN Lauds Championship Sponsor
The President, Karate Fed
eration of Nigeria (KFN), Donatus Agu-Ejidike, has commended Zainab Saleh, the Sole Sponsor of the International Female Open Karate Championship.
Agu-Ejidike gave the commendation in an interview with newsmen at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, venue of the championship.
He said that the competition was good for the development of karate, especially female karatakers.
“I am impressed with Saleh for coming up with this laudable initiative of contributing to the development of our sport and basically to encourage our female karatakers.
“I am happy with her. It is not easy for one person to make such impact.
“So, this is the reason why I travelled from Ilorin to also identify with this event and to encourage her,’’ Agu-Ejidike said.
He urged individuals and corporate bodies in the country and in the Diaspora to also contribute to the development of karate through sponsorship of competitions and seminars for technical officials.
“What the sponsor did was to set a pace for individuals and corporate bodies in the country to also come and contribute their quota through sponsorships,” Agu-Ejidike said.
The KFN president also applauded the Lagos State Karate Association (LSKA) for ensuring that the championship was well organised.
He described the event as hitch-free.
“Judging from all angles, I will say that the Championship is well-organised. It is a plus to the Lagos State Karate Association.
“Even the sponsor is happy with what is going on here today,’’ he said.
No fewer than 12 states participated at the one-day event tagged “A Female Only Championship’’.
