The Imo House of As
sembly has re-admitted Mr Greg Okemili (APGA-Oru East), who was removed about three months ago following a court ruling that declared his seat vacant.
Okemili was recalled after the Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu, made an announcement reversing the removal.
Uwajumogu said he received a letter from Mr Robert Okwuego, who contested the 2011 election with Okemili, stating that the case against Okemili had been withdrawn from the Supreme Court.
The speaker also announced that the Attorney General of the state, Justice Chukwuma Machukwu-Ume, had written to the Assembly to confirm the reversal of the action that declared the seat vacant.
The Speaker had declared the seat vacant on February 12, following a letter from Okwuego.
The letter, which was dated July 8, 2013, had called on the Speaker to immediately prevent Okemili from participating in any proceedings of the Assembly.
The reinstated lawmaker, who came back to the Assembly following the announcement, commended the Speaker for ensuring that the rule of law was followed.
He also thanked the lawmakers for their support throughout the period of his removal.
