The wife of Osun State
Governor, Alhaja Sherifat Aregbesola, recently in Osogbo charged the State’s Water and Environmental Sanitation Agency workers to redouble their efforts to make the state clean.
Aregbesola gave the advice at a training programme on Community-Led Total Sanitation organised for select communities in the 30 local government areas of the state and Ife-East Area Office.
She said that in order for people to live healthy, they needed to be orientated on open defecation-free environment and the importance of potable water for the communities.
According to her, the programme is aimed at training the communities to stop open defecation through provision of household latrines and safe water.
The Special Adviser to the governor on Water Resources, Rural Development and Community Affairs, Mr Adekunle Ige, lauded  Gov. Rauf Aregbesola’s promotion of  environmental health.
Ige also commended the governor for supporting the state government’s six-point action plan aimed at bettering the lives of the people.
The Special Adviser, who enlightened the people on healthy living, emphasised the need for regular washing of hands, as well as personal, food and environmental hygiene.
He urged the trainees to appeal to their communities to accept responsibility for providing toilet and undertaking viable self-help projects through professional advice among other healthy habits.
