Firm To Reduce Killer Diseases
A new company
involved in tackling health challenges in Nigeria, New Nation, says it is poised to ensure that it reduces the killer diseases in the country as the firm launched the “Kill the Killers Initiative”, a programme aimed at reducing some diseases in Nigeria.
The Chairman and Founder of the Company, Mr Charles Dukwe who made this known while speaking at the official launching of the programme last Friday, said the “kill the killer” initiative was designed to attack the principal diseases that cut short the lives of Nigerians and across Africa.
He said the programme began with an organised effort against diabetes and high blood pressure which he said formed over 60 per cent of the cause of death among adults in the country.
The chairman of the firm also noted that malaria which formed 70 per cent of the cause of death among children and other diseases such as typhoid, HIV and others would be addressed in the ‘Kill the Killers’ Initiative.
He regretted that Nigerian government had paid little or no attention to most of the principal diseases that cut the lives of the people short, stating that countries such as United State of America, United Kingdom, France and Canada have conquered most of the diseases and illnesses common to their environments and extended the lives of their citizens by decades as well as aggressively working on any ailments that take the lives of their people prematurely.
According to him”, when the HIV epidemic hit US, America responded and today HIV is no longer a death sentence in the US and most developed countries”.
“It is the duty of every country or region of the world to conquer their environment, find out the basic issues that affect their life and well being and most importantly do all that can, to eradicate the principal diseases that make the citizens there not. Live long”, he said.
He noted that the solutions the company had for these diseases by initiating the Kill the Killers Initiative and diabetes and high blood pressure campaign includes the grey and strong devices comprising of blood pressure monitor and sugar testing apparatus which are designed to provide fast and immediate assessment of blood sugar levels and blood levels of individuals.
