Ichemati who noted that the school was thriving in academics said however that it has shortage of classrooms to accommodate its teeming population.
She said “even as a Community school, it is doing very well and competing favourably wit other schools in most quiz and debate competitions one of which was the one organised by the NLNG.
This school came first and was promised N2m by NLNG. We are still waiting for them to fulfill the promise at least it will go a long way to help us out in fee infrastructure”.
The Principal further commended the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi for his employment of the 13,000 teachers saying “It has really helped us. As far as teachers are concerned, we have enough and so far, there is a lot of improvement in academics, moral and social upbringing of the students”.
Ichemati also lauded the Nkpor Community and Patents teachers Association (PTA) for their quick response to the school’s challenges.
“The Community and PTA are really helping us. They always respond to our calls. When the rains come, the school premises is heavy flooded. We called on the Community and they helped us extended the culvert at the back of the school for easy passage of the water and this had reduced flooding in the school’s premises,” she stated.
Ichemati further challenged the students on hardwork and dedication in order to excel not only in their academics but general life pursuits.
