Court Remands Man Over Rape Of Minor

trate  Court in  Osun  last Monday remanded one Damilare Oladoja, 25, in prison  for allegedly raping  an eight-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Christian Babatunde, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 8 at about 10.05 a.m. at Gbelekan area of  Ile-Ife.
Babatunde  alleged  that the accused, who did not disclose his residential address, had  unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor.
According to him, the offence is contrary to section 31 (1) of the Child Rights Law of Osun , 2007  and   punishable under section 2 of the same law.
Magistrate Michael Awe, who did not take the plea of the accused,  ordered his remand in Ile-Ife prison.
Awe also  directed  the defence counsel, Mr Lekan Babatunde, to file a formal application for his client’s bail.
He adjourned the case till  June 30 for  hearing.
