Clean Environment, Our Priority – Hon Igolima

Committee of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. Michael Donald Igolima, has urged the people of the area to ensure that their environment is clean at all times.
The council boss made the plea while inspecting the Ogolo/Peterside drainage project that was initiated and commenced by his administration. Hon. Igolima hinted that the drainage project was one of the quick-win initiatives of council, stressing that council will spare no resources in ensuring that every part of the local government area felt the impact of his administration either by way of human capital development or siting of quick-win projects.
In a related development, the council boss has called on all operators of commercial outlets in the local government area to clean their surroundings during the forthcoming state sanitation exercise. Hon Igolima frowned at the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and scraps, and warned that council would not hesitate to bring defaulters to book.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. Michael Igolima, has commended the leadership of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Opobo/Nkoro chapter for the exemplary show of commitment and dedication to duty.
Making the commendation in his office at Opobo Town, yesterday, while addressing members of the executive of the union, Hon. Igolima said that his administration had adopted improved workers welfare as a cardinal objective of council.
He implored them to, at all times, monitor and ensure that their members are punctual to duty, because, according to him, the present leadership of council, frowns seriously at any act of indolence and negligence of duty.
Responding on behalf of the NULGE executive, the branch Chairman, Comrade Stanley Adda Tom-Pepple, felicitated with the council boss on the well-deserved appointment of his team by the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
While expressing the appreciation of the workforce to the resolve of the council chairman to improve staff welfare, the NULGE chairman pledged the absolute commitment of his members to the realisation of the vision and mission of the present administration.
