The Centre for Manage
ment Development (CMD) said it accredited 200 management development institutes out of 280 that applied for accreditation between 2011 and 2014.
The Director-General, CMD, Dr Kabir Usman, told  newsmen in  Abuja last Thursday that the accreditation was to check quacks and set global standards for the institutes.
Usman said that the accreditation was also aimed at sanitising management development institutes and consultants firms.
According to him, the accreditation will go a long way in  helping workers to improve on their productivity by getting value on their training.
Usman told journalists  that the Nigerian Council for Management Development mandated the centre to accredit the management development institutes and consultant firms in the country.
According to him, the purpose is to encourage best practices and set global standard for the institutes to discourage workers from going abroad for training.
“During the accreditation, we ascertained whether any of the institute was established by law and to be sure that it has physical address and human resources facilities.
“Other requirements for the accreditation include the faculty programmes and quality assurance,’’ Usman said.
