Attendant Remanded Over Car Theft

A Senior Magistrates’
Court sitting in Life Camp, Abuja, last Wednesday sentenced a car wash attendant, Isah Ibrahim, 18, to 90 days in prison for stealing N3,500 from an unpainted cab operator.
Ibrahim, who  resides at Kado Village in Abuja, was charged with theft.
The senior magistrate, Mr Abdullahi Illelah, sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
He, however, gave him an option of N3.000 fine.
The senior magistrate said, “Though the accused person admitted committing the crime and did not waste the time of the court, he must be punished.’’
He advised him to avoid indulging in criminal acts at such young age.
Earlier, the prosecutor, PC Odigiri Onah, told the court that Mr Solomon Tama of SMA House in Jabi, Abuja, lodged a complaint against the convict at the Life Camp Police Station on May 22.
Onah said on the same date, at about 5 p.m. after the complainant dropped around Kado Estate roundabout, he discovered that Ibrahim had stolen his wallet.
He said the wallet contained the sum of N3,500, an indigene form and an ID card.
The prosecutor said during police investigation the accused confessed that he committed the offence but refused to produce the stolen items.
