140,000 Youths To Benefit From ICT Initiative

Economic Empowerment Programme (IYEEP) has penciled down 140,000 youths as first beneficiaries on Information and Communication Technology skills and other programmes.
The Rivers State Corodinator of the group, Mr Samuel Hakumeru said last Monday, shortly after his inauguration by the national coordinator, Comrade Nwoke Obinna, in Port Harcourt.
He said that the time had come for the youths to embrace skill acquisition and shun any form of violent act.
Hakumeru, noted that the organization was non partisan but has the sole aim of transforming youths to the best.
The Tide learnt the scheme is a strategic, integrated and information-based project to empower youths across the six geo-political zones of the country.
Also speaking, the national coordinator of the group, Comrade Nwoke Obinna, noted  that the initiative was part of President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation agenda in a bid to give meaningful live to young people.
He also said that the youth initiative was an organized tool that would, among other things, enhance leadership skills among them.
According to him, the project will be achieved via the executive of deliberate and critical elements, which would include socio-economic empowerment, skills acquisition and others.
Obinna, pointed out that the beneficiaries would be youths between 18-35 years of age, adding that the programme was sponsored through the office of the Special Adviser on youth empowerment, Amb. Obi Adim.
The initiative, he said, would address youths on the need to embrace entrepreneurship, envision the impossible and ultimately transform the country.
He expressed optimism that the project was able to handle the successful business growth and its sustenance.
Meanwhile, he has announced that programme would be available and free for all entrepreneurs mindless of their ethnic background.
