United FC Hopeful Of Promotion
The General Manager of
Kwara United FC of Ilorin, Haruna Maigidasanma, said that he was optimistic of the club regaining promotion to the premier league next season.
Maigidasanma told newsmen in Ilorin that his team performance in the first stanza of the league was satisfactory.
He said the team would pick one of the available promotion tickets in Group A of the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Maigidasanma said the club’s management would look at areas where the team needed to improve on ahead of the second stanza which, he said, would be tough.
“We are not doing badly at the moment considering the toughness of group A. There is element of luck in football, so we will pray for luck.
“That is not to say we are not going to be adequately prepared for the round of the league,” he said.
The club administrator praised fans and supporters of the team for the level of maturity they have displayed so far in the season.
He urged them to continue to support the club to achieve their aim of gaining promotion to the elite league next season.
Maigidasanma pledged that the club would continue to be run in accordance with the FIFA standard and the law guiding football in Nigeria.
He commended the Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed for his support to the team and promised that the mandate given to them would be delivered to the state at the end of the season.
“Like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more, the governor’s support has been tremendous but there are still lots of work to be done.
“Our new commissioner has been fantastic too, we will work hard to justify the confidence he and our supporters reposed in us,” he said.
Kwara United is fourth in the league table at the end of the first stanza with 24 points and 11 goals difference behind Wikki Tourist of Bauchi, Adamawa United and Spotlight of Katsina.
