Trader, 20, Arraigned For Removing Woman’sTooth

A 20-year-old trader,
Endurance Eze-Osahon, recntly appeared in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly removing a co-tenant’s tooth with a blow.
The accused, who resides at No. 2, Ila Orangun Close, Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, is facing a charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 22 at 6.00 a.m. at his residence.
“The accused is the landlady’s brother-in-law.
“The complainant, Mrs Amaka Anonbe, overheard her landlady abusing her children because they were playing ball.
“The complainant abused the landlady and the accused confronted her and this led to a fight.
“The accused gave the complainant a blow in the mouth and she lost an upper tooth,’’ Osuji said.
He said the offences contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Miss Y.J. Badejo-Okusanya, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Badejo-Okusanya said the sureties must produce evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government as part of the bail conditions.
She adjourned the case to May 5 for further hearing.
