Surulere Swimmers Haul Golds At Lagos Sports Festival
The Surulere Local
Government has won six gold in swimming events at the ongoing 2014 Lagos State Sports Festival tagged, Ibile Games, held at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
All the gold medals were won by Yeiyah Yellow for the council.
The game is to prepare Lagos State contingents for the 19th National Sports Festival in Calabar in November.
Yellow won gold in 400m freestyle men, 50m (butterfly stroke), 200 (breaststroke), 200 (individual medley), 50m (freestyle) and 200m freestyle events.
Yellow also came second in 100m backstroke event.
In the female event, Esther Omoseyin, representing Oriade Local Council Development Authority (LCDA), won gold in three swimming categories.
Omoseyin won gold in 400m freestyle event, 50m (butterfly) and 200m (freestyle).
In the secondary school category, Faith John from Ipakodo Grammar School, dominated the female categories by winning gold in 400m freestyle, 50m (butterfly), 200 (individual medley) and 200m freestyle event.
Faith also came second in 200m backstroke, 50m (freestyle), 100m (butterfly) and came third in 100m backstroke events.
