Society Plans Housing Scheme For Pharmacists

The Rivers State branch of
the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) is planning a special housing policy for its members.
Chairman of PSN in Rivers State, Pharm, Godson M. T. Chukwu, who spoke with The Tide in an interview, said the body recently acquired 268 plots of land at Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State, where it plans to build special housing units for its members.
The PSN Chairman, said the acquired land will be allocated to its members for building under a Housing Project known as ‘Prime Pharmacist Estate’.
According to the chairman, the Prime Pharmacist estate, is to foster harmony and homogeneity among members, as well as enable pharmacists in Rivers State to own their own houses.
He tasked members of the body on commitment to professional practice, and pointed out that their duties are strategic as they have to do with drug administration.
He condemned the activities of infiltrators in the profession and assured the commitment of the body to check the activities of quacks.
As part of moves to boost professionalism and standards in practices, he said the body had made regular training of members a cardinal objective, and stated that his administration would take the body to greater heights.
The Chairman also canvassed for better conditions of service for its members in both the public and private sectors, and called for a review of labour policies in Nigeria to enhance the standard of living of workers.
He also assured the commitment of the body to complementing the effort of the Federal Government in its fight against fake drugs in the country.
