RSUBEB Charges Staff On Quality Assurance

man of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB), Sir Alli Oruitemeka has urged Quality Assurance Officers of the Board to carryout their duties effectively.
He gave the charge recently at an in-house training workshop for Quality Assurance Officers.
In an address presented by Board Member III of RSUBEB, Dr Clinton Tolofari on his behalf, Sir Oruitemeka noted that training, especially after graduation , “is bound to increase the experience of workers”.
He continued that “the centrality of this training is to prepare and equip Quality Assurance Officers towards practical field work.”
According to him, “This is another way to assess themselves, and above all to see how fit and prepared they are with Millennium challenges, especially Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Education for All (EFA) and the reforms that have been recorded in the education sector in Rivers State.”
The State RSUBEB Boss further explained that Quality Assurance is basically aimed at ensuring that both teaching and learning are carried out professionally, skillfully, efficiently in schools, in line with the prescribed principles, practice and administration.
This, to me, also implies that Quality Assurance Officers have to ensure that during schools supervision, monitoring and evaluation, the actual teaching is done in consonance with government approved curriculum, national policy on education and other relevant reforms in the system, he said.
While acknowledging that achieving this will be demanding, he noted that “With adequate opportunities offered by this training, the challenges will be surmounted.
On his part, while presenting a paper titled. The Roles, function and responsibility of unions in Quality Assurance Delivery in schools. The NUT perspective, Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Chief Godfrey Nwogu stated that a total overhauling of the educational system is important since education is a process of change / modernization, a total overhauling is required to meet its practice to the benefit of mankind and society.
It must be made known that its Standard in terms of Quality are opened to all stake holders, including Labour, of which NUT is at the forefront to access, he said.
In his paper titled “Roles and functions of the media in Quality Assurance Delivery in our schools, Mr Arnold Alex Alalibo advocated for effective collaboration between the Quality Assurance Department and the media, among others, to ensure effective service delivery.
The one – day workshop was organized by RSUBEB, for Education Secretaries, Board Supervisors, Chief Supervisors, Deputy Supervisors Accounts Supervisors, All Nigeria Conference of Principals and Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) Conference of Primary school Heads (COPSON) Nigeria Union of Teaches (NUT), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Non Governmental Organizations.
