RSHPDA Provides Infrastructure At Iriebe Estate

Residents of the Iriebe
Housing Estate in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area will soon heave a sign of relief as the Rivers State Housing and Property Development Authoritiy (RSHPDA) commences process to provide electricity and security fencing in the estate.
Bidding exercise was conducted at the head office of the authority in Port Harcourt for the project Monday, during which three firms emerged as prospective contractors for the job.
Phase one of the project covers the estate’s boundary fencing stretching approximately 898 meters and will be built with a thick sandcrete block work to wade off land encroachers and provide security for residents.
The electricity project comprises the construction of a 3.7 kilometer 11 kv high tension dual lines with the installation of 3500kva and II.4kva transformers for power provision.
Among the three companies that emerged at the open bidding include Tokoni Limited, Emma Eleto Nigeria Limited and Ndage Nigeria Limited. Two bidded for the fencing, while one bidded for the electricity project.
Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the authority, Mrs Ibaraye Uranta, said the the open bidding process is in tune with the state Public Procurement Act of 2008.
She further revealed that a technical committee will study the proposals submitted by the bidders and ensure all parties were treated fairly.
Meanwhile, General Manager of the RSHPDA, Architect Iyerifama Cookey-Gam says over 300 out of the 834 units of housing have been completed and occupied.
The estate, he further revealed, was constructed under a partnership with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria through the National Housing Fund scheme.
Located in the outskirts of Port Harcourt, the estate comprises of three-bedroom, semi detached bungalows, two bedroom bungalows, two bedroom and one bedroom flats.
