The Plateau Rocks
women basketball team’s coach, Alex Guwan,  has in Ilorin assured that the club would perform better in the 2014/2015 Zenith Bank National Women Basketball League.
Guwan gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen after his team secured their second win in the second phase of the league’s 2013/2014 competition.
T he Jos-based side beat Coal City of Enugu 62-29 in their seventh and last game in Group B of the second phase of the league.
“We just managed to come with some of the players here, because they are new in the team. They don’t have any experience.
“This situation is because many of our key players are not around. They are tied up in examinations in their various universities.
“Also, our tallest player had injury in the first phase in Abuja, so she wasn’t able to come.
“But now we will go back to the drawing board and start preparations on time for next season, and I am sure we will come back stronger next season, because we want to play in the final eight play-offs,’’ Guwan said.
The second phase of the league which ends Friday, May 9 had started on Friday, May 2 with 16 teams divided into Group A and Group B.
Only eight teams — four from each group — will qualify for the final eight play-offs in Lagos, scheduled for June.
