Rivers CJ’s Crisis: NBA Chairman Promises Mediation
The newly elected Chair
man of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt branch, River State, Barrister Denis Ikechi Okwukpan, has promised to work with the various stakeholders in the state to bring an end to the prolonged crisis rocking the appointment of a Chief Judge for the state judiciary.
Barrister Okwukpan stated this during an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt, over the weekend and described the problem surrounding the appointment of Chief Judge of the state as very unfortunate.
According to him, the association would do everything possible to bring the matter to a possible resolution for the interest of justice and the people of the state, “even though the matter was already in the court”.
The NBA chairman posited that the chief judge in the state judiciary has affected the administration of justice delivery in the state.
He promised to resolve the image of the association as well as the dignity of members of the bar and bench in the state within the next two years of his administration assuring that he would work as a team with members of his exco in order to justify the confidence reposed on them.
The new NBA chairman while thanking members of the association for giving them the opportunity to serve appealed to them to give their unalloyed support to the new leadership in their quest to restore the pride of the association in the state.
