Police Prosecute Minister’s Aide For Careless Driving

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Adyorough Tervershima, last Wednesday appeared at a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, charged with careless driving.
Tervershima, 55, who resides at No. 68, Nnamdi Azikiwe Way, Trade Estate, Lugbe, was alleged to have driven recklessly, leading to a considerable damage to three cars.
Elijah alleged that at the Dantata ring road, the accused turned so carelessly into the fast lane and ran into a Honda Accord car driven by one Mr Aberdeen Mohammed, after losing control of the car.
The prosecutor informed the court that consequently, the Honda Accord driven by Mohammed collided with two other cars from the opposite lane.
Elijah said that the two affected vehicles were Nissan Sunny with no; YA 510 DAS driven by Mr Adeyinka Adisa, and a Toyota Camry with no: EX 648 ABJ, driven by Mr Usman Kabiri.
The prosecutor also told the court that due to the accused reckless driving, both cars, including the Honda, were extensively damaged.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor urged the court to grant him a date to open the case against the accused following his plea of innocence.
The counsel to the accused, Mr Terlumun Adaga, prayed the court to grant the accused bail in liberal terms, assuring that he would not jump bail.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Aminu Eri, admitted him to bail for N100,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Eri also ordered that the sureties must be people with reliable source of livelihood and directed that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the matter to May 12 for hearing.
