Police Arraign Bizman For Cheating Shopowner

The police last
Thursday arraigned a businessman, Bright Idugbo, in a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, for cheating a shopowner of N800,000.
Idugbo, 46, who resides in Zone 5, Masaka, Nasarawa State is facing a three-count charge of criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal misappropriation.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Abdullahi Adamu, told the court that Lisa Williams of Blue Wall Plaza, Wuse, Abuja reported the matter at the Wuse Police Station on April 30.
Adamu said that Williams rented two shops to the accused person sometime in October 2013 with an agreement that Idugbo should remit N200,000 monthly to him.
The prosecutor said Idugbo did not remit the agreed amount for four months, amounting to N800,000, which made Williams to evict him in February.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312, 322 and 309 of the Penal Code Law.
If convicted, the accused person is liable to a jail term which may extend to 12 years or fine or both.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the allegations against him and the Senior Magistrate, Grace Adebayo, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adebayo ordered that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and must have verifiable residential and business addresses.
She adjourned the matter until June 23 for hearing
