A Federal High Court in
Ibadan recently remanded three men who were suspected to have vandalised an NNPC pipeline.
The three suspected vandals are Adebayo Aremu, Sunday Michael and Segun Adeyinka.
The counsel to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr Adedeji Olayiwola, said the accused were arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful tampering, willful destruction and economic sabotage.
Olayiwola said the three men committed the crime on July 30, 2013 at 3.00 a.m. in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
He said the accused brought untold hardship on the people due to the cut in the supply of petroleum products.
The offences, he said, contravened sections 518 (6), 1 (7A and B), 9 (3A) and 1 (1A) of the Misellaneous Offences Acts N17 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
While Adebayo and Michael pleaded guilty, Adeyinka pleaded not guilty.
Justice Ayo Emmanuel ordered the three men to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till May 20 for trial.
