PH Airport’s International Wing Ready, 2016 – Contractor
The contracting firm
handling the Port Harcourt Airport’s International Wing terminal building construction has promised to deliver the project in record time of 24 months.
Conducting Aviation Correspondents round the project site, Engr. Abimbola Alayande, and Odunlade Femi, Quantity Surveyor of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Nigeria Limited (CCECC) said the work has gone past the sub structural stage.
They explained that the materials for the project are all on site but regretted that the mechanical drawings caused a little delay before it was received.
According to them, the scope of the contract include international terminal building, Dry Cargo building and Epron, adding that the first concentration is on the terminal building.
Alayande, however, noted that the rains in Port Harcourt are affecting the progress of work but assured that efforts are doubled during dry weather.
He said the project took off on March 2013, while actual mobilisation to site was in September last year and promised tht the quality of the project would not be compromised.
The journalists were taken to the batching plant, materials workshop where material tests are carried out to ascertain their quality.
On his part, the Personnel Manager of the construction company, Mr. Mohammed Kabir, said the company has employed 298 workers and still needs Quantity Surveyors, skilled Masons and carpenters for employment.
He confirmed that the company is currently enjoying cordial relationship with IPO Community and the authorities of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
