NUT Hails Promotion Of 10,000 Teachers
The Nigeria Union of
Teachers’ (NUT) ,Rivers State Chapter, has commended the Rivers State Government and the Board of Universal Basic Education (UBE) for the release of promotion of over 10,000 teachers in the state.
The Union’s Chairman, comrade Godfrey Nwogu, made the commendation while speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
The NUT boss said the release of the promotion interview results will effectively ensure more commitment from the teachers’ toward their responsibilities and teaching enhancement.
He urged the newly recruited teachers to take their jobs seriously by ensuring daily attendance in class and adequate preparation of their lesson notes for inspection by their schools supervisors.
He called on the 13,000 newly recruited teachers to be patient, more focused in teaching and imparting knowledge as, according to him, the teaching profession is a more rewarding profession.
The NUT boss said the union is working out a plan to synergise with the state government on how to address the myriad of problems of teachers in the State as they relates to better welfare and improved condition of service .
He said NUT in the state will no longer tolerate truancy and absenteeism from any teachers.
The NUT boss also said the Union will ensure that teachers’ are prompt on resumption of duty and adopt proper learning methods as to impart knowledge to the wards and pupils in accordance with the approved academic curriculum.
Nwogu said teachers in the State must always be at their duty posts as the new academic session began, stressing that the union, in collaboration with the ministry of Education Officials, would set up a monitoring team to visit the various schools on effective assessment of teachers.
He appealed to the local government Education Secretaries to visit UBE for the early collection of the promotion results to redouble the effort of the teachers in the State.
