Coach Gabriel Umunna
of Nembe City FC of Brass, Bayelsa, last Monday said though his team had suffered a string of defeats, he was hopeful they would advance on the league table.
Umunna expressed the hope in an interview with our correspondent on his team’s 0-3 loss to Enyimba FC of Aba in a Week 15 Globacom League match.
The match was played at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.
The coach said they lost to Enyimba because the Aba side performed better.
He, however, complained that Enyimba got two good goals and a bad goal which, he said, was a “clear offside goal”.
On the team’s position on the league table, Umunna expressed the hope that they would win some of their remaining matches to be in the contest.
“Of course, that is why we are still in the league; we are optimistic and still hopeful of moving away from our losses to getting a better position.
“We will certainly move on and achieve results. We hope to move forward on the league table. We have many matches to play.
“We do not expect to lose many of our matches, we will win most of them,” Umunna said.
Mfon Udoh, who scored two goals for Enyimba in the match, said he hoped to take Enyimba once again to the CAF Champions League.
Udoh said that he had been able to score six goals in the premier league for Enyimba this season.
Bashir Abdulrahman scored the first goal for Enyimba in the first minute of the match, while Udoh scored the last two in the 26th and the 53rd minutes.
