The Minister of State for
Trade and Investments and Supervising Minister of Aviation, Mr Samuel Ortom, said the cargo terminal at Makurdi Airport would be completed and inaugurated in two months.
Ortom said this  while inspecting the airport in Makurdi, recently.
He expressed satisfaction with the standard of work at the airport, and said that he would ensure that funds were released to enable contractors complete the work in time.
The minister, who was conducted round the airport by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr Saleh Dunoma, stated that he would see to it that all projects started by his predecessor were completed.
“The roadmap to repositioning the Aviation ministry is on course and I will ensure that all projects started by my predecessor are completed.
“We are not interested in embarking on new projects but to complete and inaugurate old ones”, he said.
He said the cargo terminal for perishable and fresh produce which was the biggest in the country, was deliberately sited in Benue as the food basket of the nation to give value to farm produce by Benue farmers.
Ortom expressed optimism that the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan would soon give the required meaning to the people of Benue.
On the Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP), Ortom said it would galvanise sustainable economic growth and development in the country.
“The plan is aimed at revolutionising the industrial sector which will in effect transform the Nigerian economy and place it on a pedestal of sustainable growth and development.
“Government is determined to create the enabling environment for business organisations and entrepreneurs to thrive because they are the drivers of any economy.
“That is why I urge all Nigerians to key into this genuine effort of the President to industrialise our economy because the benefits are enormous”, he said.
