Mohammed expressed happiness with the retreat which aimed at imparting knowledge on policemen on how to speed-up investigation for effective justice delivery.
He said that in spite of the challenges facing some police stations, the force ought to make judicious use of its resources to speed up criminal investigations.
“I therefore urge investigation agencies and other stakeholder to contribute to the timeliness and effectiveness of investigations in the state to partner with the police to enhance the investigation process,” Mohammed said.
In his remarks, Mr Jeff Ansell of the DFID thanked the police for initiating the programme and advised them to work with communities to speed up investigations.

“ I urge you to always endeavour to carry out your investigations thoroughly and sincerely to enhance criminal investigation process,’’ Ansell said.
The Director of Public Prosecution in the state, Mr Victor Emeribe, commended the organisers of the retreat which he noted would educate the investigating officers on the need for proper and timely investigation of criminal matters.
“Prosecution witness is our major problem in crime prosecution. I wish that this programme will be made routine for all concerned with crime prosecution in the state to rob minds for timely justice delivery. We must commend the police for their tremendous improvement in the quality of their investigation in the state.
“I believe that after this retreat, the investigators will have many tools to achieve their investigation which will enhance proper investigations and timely justice deliverance,’’ he said.
In her remarks, the Executive Director of PRAWA, Dr Uju Aghomuo, urged the police to speed-up their investigation for the suspects to know their fate on time to avoid the suspects wasting their lives in detention.
“We all know that not all the suspects are guilty of the crime they are being detained for, so, for the sake of their fundamental human rights, lets speed-up their prosecution. This will improve the image of the police and justice administration in the country,’’ she said.
The event was attended by the AIG Zone 9, Mr Balla Nasarawa, other sister security agencies, officers of the DFID and senior police officers.
