Half Of A Yellow Sun Now In Cinemas
Finally, the most talked
about and anticipated movie, ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’ (HOAYS)is now out and showing in the big screens all over Nigeria since Friday, April 25th, 2014. The movie, which is a collaboration between top Nollywood and Nollywood actors cum actresses is the first Nigerian movie to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Canada.
The movie features BAFTA award winner and Oscar nominee, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Nigerian number one actress, Genevieve Nnaji. Others include O.C. Ukeje, Zack Orji, Wale Adeojo, Gloria Young, Tina Mba as well as Hollywood best, Thandie Newton, Anika Rose, Joseph Mawle, John Boyega etc.
The new flick, which is an adaptation of Chimamanda Adiche’s best selling and award winning novel has been translated into over 30 languages and been premiered in different parts of the world, UK, USA, Middle East, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand and Nigeria.
The Tide Entertainment gathered that Genevieve Nnaji, has described the movie as the biggest film she has ever done. ‘Half of the Yellow Sun’, which currently shows in all the cinemas in Nigeria is currently showing in all Silverbird Cinemas across the country including Port Harcourt.
The movie which is also regarded as the first in Nigeria to undergo proper film financing was produced with over 10 million Dollars and is expected to have a turn over of a million Dollars in Nigerian cinemas. It was directed by UK based Nigerian play wright Biyi Bamidele and was produced by Yewande Sadiku.
