Ekiti Picks Athletes For South-West Schools Games
The Ekiti State Sports
Council has concluded trials for the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Games.
The state would feature in Chess, Table Tennis, Badminton and Athletics.
The state would also present volleyball, football and basketball teams.
Secondary schools students from the 16 local government areas of the state were selected randomly to participate in the trials at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium in Ado-Ekiti.
The Director of Organisation of the Sports Council, Mr Joseph Alla, said some of the outstanding students in each of the sports had been selected to represent the state.
Alla advised the selected students to train well and be focused in order to defeat their opponents at the games which would be held in Lagos from May 16 to 24.
He commended all the students that participated in the trials for their zeal.
The DAWN games sports festival was organised for students in secondary schools in the South-West states.
