Court Remands Man For Murder

A twenty-three-year
middle aged man, has been remanded in Port Harcourt prison custody for allegedly killing a fellow man.
The accused person, Blessing Dikoji Iparaboma Jaja who hails from Opobo town in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State was said to have been allegedly killed by one Sisi Jaja by hitting him with a stick on his head.
The accused person, Blessing Dikoji Iparaboma, 23, is standing trial on one-count charge of murder and other criminal offences before magistrate, Alayuwo Elkanah Fubara of Magistrate Court 9.
The prosecuting police officer, Sgt Osisi Kenneth told the court that the accused person, Blessing Dikoji Iparaboma Jaja on the 19th day of April, 2014 at Jaja’s compound Opobo in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District did cause the death of one Sisi Jaja “m” by hitting him with stick.
The prosecuting police officer further told the court that the accused person committed an offence punishable under section 319(1) of the criminal code, Cap 37 Vol. II Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The presiding magistrate, Alayuwo Elkanah Fubara while remanding the accused to prison custody averred that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
