The Nigerian
Shippers’ Council has commenced negotiation with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on how to use the council’s truck parks as sales transit for the corporation.
The Executive Secretary of the Council, Barrister Hassan Bello, who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja recently said the NNPC  Group Managing Director, Mr Andrew Yakubu was set to have meeting with the Council’s board chairman on the partnership.
He explained that the council plans to establish ultra-modern truck parks across the country in order to bring succour to truck and tanker drivers.
Bello said NNPC would be using the truck transit parks for their retail outlets adding that both bodies plan to build the parks on Public Private Partnership basis.
The Executive secretary said NNPC authorities had already indicated interest stressing that the step would provide resting places for the tanker drivers who ply Nigerian roads.
Bello further revealed that apart from NNPC, Kogi, Kaduna, and Enugu state governments have equally shown interest in the idea.
Nigeria, he said cannot be an exception as this happens in every advanced country of the world.
