The National Coalition for
Justice and Equity has lauded the ongoing national conference committee on political restructuring for recommending the creation of one additional state for the South East.
A statement from the coalition also called for the creation of more local government areas in the geo-political zone.
The statement, signed by the Chairman of the group, Mr Vincent Ezekwueme, said that if the state was created with more council areas, the cry of marginalisation by the people of the zone would be addressed.
“We appeal to other committees to emulate the selflessness, magnanimity, maturity and patriotism displayed by the political restructuring committee.
“They should as well ensure its endorsement at the plenary of the conference,’’ it said.
It called on President Goodluck Jonathan to appoint a minister from Anambra to replace former Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah.
It said that the joint security taskforce he set up had reduced kidnapping, armed robbery, extortion, exploitation and intimidation of the residents by hoodlums.
“The people of Anambra are happy and satisfied with your security performance so far; especially as criminals and criminal activities have been put under check.
