Association Gets N77.5m Loan For Cassava Production

sava Growers Association, Kebbi chapter, received N77.5million as loan in 2014 and prepared 600,000 hectares of land to produce cassava in commercial quantity.
This is contained in a statement signed by publicity secretary of the association Nasiru Magaji, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
Magaji said: “The Bank of Agriculture released N150,000 to each of the 517 members of the association.
“An additional N4,000 will be also granted by the bank as loan to farmers to boost the production and export of cassava chips, pellets and flour for bread baking.
“The association also mobilised 20,000 small, medium and large scale farmers into cooperatives.
“We would ensure that the cassava processing plant provided by the state government was well utilised.
Magaji urged the national leadership of the association to ensure the establishment of cassava processing plants in each senatorial district of the country as outlined in the national cassava development master plan.
He called on youths to engage in cassava farming for self employment and to enhance their economic status.
