Anambra Declares War On Exams ‘Miracle Centres’

Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha, has said that the state government would eradicate special examination centres also known as miracle centres in the state.
Omenugha said this while receiving officials of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) in the state during a visit to his office, Monday.
She said the state government had declared war on such centres used by students to cheat in Senior Secodary School and JAMB examinations, adding that it is determined to eradicate them.
“Special and miracle centres will be eradicated by the present administration; it is one of the visions of the state government,’’ she said.
Omenugha urged the proprietors to appreciate the innovations introduced by the government in the education sector, saying it was to upgrade standard and ensure quality.
The commissioner said the ministry would work with the school proprietors to further improve the standard of education in the state.
Omenugha said the state government had produced a 10-year rolling plan for the development of education in the state.
Earlier, the President of the association, Mr Sunday Anaekwe, pledged to work with the government to raise the standard of education in the state.
He said the association would also work with the government to eradicate miracle centres in schools.
