Rivers State Governor, Rt.
Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, says Nigerians should imbibe the culture of documenting issues for the sake of posterity and societal development.
Governor Amaechi stated this during the public presentation of the book: entitled “Resolving Boundary Disputes, authored by the Secretary to the State Boundary Committee, Mr.ThankGodEkine, in Port Harcourt.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, GovernorAmaechi stressed the importance of providing society and future generations with critical information that would help in making policy decisions in the overall interest of society.
“It is important that as civil servants or staff of any organisation, that you give an extra thought to the things that you do every day. The white man is celebrated for his culture of documentation. Everything he does, he documents it; that is why it is easy for them to access experiences and knowledge of things that happened over 2000 years ago,” he said.
He praised the author for writing the book and availing the state with relevant information that would assist in resolving boundary disputes, stressing that anyone who would succeed him as Secretary to the State Boundary Committee would find a good resource reservoir.
The book reviewer and the Solicitor General/Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr.Rufus Godwins, in his presentation, described the 260-page book as “an excellent piece of robust research, scholarship and resourcefulness in which the author effectively deployed his impressive multi-disciplinary pedigree in Law, Estate Management, Administration and Boundary Dispute Management to provide a timely treatise on the vexed subject boundary disputes”.
