Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has remanded an 18-year old barber, Samuel David, in Ikoyi Prisons over alleged murder of his landlord , Alabi John.
The accused, who resides at No. 108, Ikota Housing Estate, Ajah, Lagos, is charged with murder.
David’s plea was, however, not taken.
The Magistrate, Miss Y.B. Okusanya-Badejo, ordered that the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 24 at 11.00 p.m. at the residence of the accused.
“The deceased had scolded the accused, his tenant, for bringing a dog into the compound.
“An argument ensued, the accused pushed the deceased, who fell down and sustained injury.
“‘He was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead,” he said.
He noted that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.
The case was adjourned to April 14 for mention.
