Social Crusader Makes Case For Rivers CJ
A human rights advocate
and social crusader Mr Amadioha Erusi, has said that the Chief Judge of Rivers State should be allowed to run the judiciary instead of engaging him in frivolous litigation. Mr Erusi, who stated this while speaking with The Tide in Port Harcourt on Monday, noted that the tussle over the reigns of judicial powers in Rivers State had set the state judiciary backwards.
According to him, “people cannot get letters of administration because the probate registrar (the Chief Judge) is not the to sign them. A lot of things have gone haywire because there is no body to superintend over the affairs of the state judiciary.
He explained that the absence of a Chief Judge in the state had made it difficult for justice delivery.
Mr Erusi said the assignment of cases to High Courts in the state had been sluggish because of the absence of Chief Judge.
He said that the ugly situation in the state would not promote the development of judicial system.
He called the resolution of conflict between the National Judicial Council and Agumaga. Mr Erusi noted that although the dispute between the two was already at a Federal High Court in Abuja but it could still be resolved.
