Sharks Debunk Alleged Threat To Players
The Management of
Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, Rivers State has debunked the allegation that soccer fans popularly called area boys threatened to unleash mayhem on both Shark and Dolphins FCs if money was not given to them to support the teams for Glo league matches.
A statement issued in Port Harcourt by the media officer of Sharks, Peter Abaje which was made available to Tidesports said that there was no time the fans threatened to unleash mayhem on the team and did also not demand money from the management of the club in exchange for their support.
the statement further discribed the newspaper publication as a figment of the imagination of the dectractors of the club who have been dazed by the good start of the team this season compared to their wishful thoughts.
The dream of the fans, supporters, officials and players of the team is to play continental football by ending the season on high points, a feat that has chided the team since it was founded in 1972.
And to say that the excitement that greated Sharks 2-1 victory over warn wolves in a pre season friendly in Port Harcourt amounted to a chaotic scene by fans was just to give credance to a monkey business story the statement related.
“Our supporters and fans have been an epitome of orderliness in recent times and that status we intend to maintain for a long time to come and do not forget in a hurry that we have lost and drawn matches at home without a single threat to our opponents, match officials and even our players so to say fans demanded money in exchange for support to the team is unfounded”, he added
“And we only celebrated the new found form in the team even though it was friendly game on that particular. And for the story that concerns sister club Dolphins let it be on record that Sharks fans will never harass or stop sister club Dolphins from honouring matches at Sharks stadium for any reason because they are both funded by the same parent and don’t forget that their fans did not harass us when we used the liberation stadium as our home ground some few season ago so why would anybody think otherwise.
“We have always supported Dolphins which was evident when they were down by a lone goal against Sunshine Stars in the first double header in the history of domestic football in the country until they found their rhythm and won the match”, Abaje stressed
So we appeal to those mischief makers to desist from misinforming the public and journalists to cross check their fact before going to press.
